Bore and Stroke
An engine-assembly puzzle for people who want to know how an engine goes together — not roughly, but in order.

The web build is open to everyone while we finish it. Tell us what works and what does not — that is what the beta is for.

The order is the puzzle
Every part has to go in when a real engine would take it. Bearings before the crank, crank before the rods, and the game refuses anything that would seal a part in. It tells you why.
No decoys
Every part in the tray belongs to this engine. The question is never "is this real", it is "does this go now" — the question a mechanic actually faces.
Blueprints you can see through
The ghost of where a piece goes shows through the parts already fitted, so you learn the layout of an engine rather than hunting for a glowing spot.
A dyno, and a rank curve with no cliff
Finish, run it, see the number. Faster and cleaner assembly ranks higher on a curve that rewards improvement at every level, not only perfection.
More than 200 engines
A lawnmower single, a two-stroke, a flat-six, a rotary, a V8, a locomotive V16. Each one is built from its real specification — layout, valvetrain, induction, fuel, ignition, timing drive, cooling — so each one goes together differently, because each one is different.
On your phone
Built for a touchscreen first. Rotate a piece with a finger; drop it where the blueprint says.
The catalogue
230 engines, assembled the way they really are
Every engine in the game is generated from its own specification: layout, cylinder count, bore and stroke, valvetrain, induction, fuel system, ignition, timing drive, cooling and lubrication. The parts in the tray and the order they go in follow from that, so an air-cooled V-twin, a belt-driven twin-cam four and a gear-driven locomotive diesel are three different puzzles, not one puzzle with three skins.
Cars
100From a Honda B18C to the big V8s and V12s: the engines people build in a home garage, and the ones they wish they could.
Motorcycles
58Singles, V-twins, inline fours, a few two-strokes. Small enough to learn on, and every one a different order.
Trucks
31Diesel straight-sixes and V8s with gear-driven timing and wet-sump lubrication that has to go in first.
Small engines
17The Honda GX200 and its relatives: the tutorial engine, and the fastest way to see the whole method in seven pieces.
Locomotives
13V12 and V16 diesels the size of a room. The endgame tiers: the most pieces, the longest sequences.
Tractors
11Slow, heavy, simple, and unforgiving about what goes in before what.
Media
Screenshots and clips
The trailer and the store screenshots are being recorded from the release build. Until they are, the simulator on the front page is the honest preview of what the game teaches; the game itself is the assembly.
